So, I just finished Kushiel's Dart, which is the first novel in what seems to be shaping up to be an awesome series by Jacqueline Carey. Whoa; that is about the best reaction I can manage at the moment. I'll be able to post more coherently after I've absorbed it all, and there's a lot to absorb; the book is massive!

As is practically a prerequisite with me after finishing a book, I went looking for fanfic, and found some awesome stuff, and got way too many plot bunnies.
I'm not much in to het, but I really want to see some long and plotty Anafiel/Phedre. I adored Anafiel as a character, especially after we learned about his past. And yes, I am an absolute succor for troubled heros, especially troubled heros who engage in slashy relationships within cannon. But though I'm usually a dihard slasher, I have this mad urge for Phedre/Anafiel. Maybe it's my dislike for Joscelin manifesting *growls at the frequency of his appearances* And it's not even that he and Phedre became lovers; it's that he's completely boring, but anyway. I suppose it just irked me that Anafiel seemed so revolted by her gift, and I thought that in a lot of ways, she could have been a better aid to Delaunay than her foster brother.

But even more than Phedre/Anafiel, I want long plotty AU with Phedre/Melisande, with sparse appearances by Joscelin. Yes, they are seriously twisted, but damn, they compliment each other perfectly.
And as if I don't have enough plot bunnies already in way too many fandoms, I'm going off to start the second book, in which, or so I hear, the Phedre/Melisande dynamic gets even more tension *licks lips in anticipation*
